October 21-24 in the county of Yonam, province Cholla Nam-Do, (Republic of Korea) took place the General Assembly of the Association of Regional Governments of the North-East Asia, which was attended by representatives of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), under the leadership of the Deputy Sports Minister Georgy Balakshin.The main theme of the General Assembly was to "create a new joint era of Northeast Asia."
This year, the General Assembly was attended by over 150 representatives from the regions of 5 countries: China, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mongolia and the Russian Federation.
On behalf of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) George Balakshin made a proposal on the establishment of the NEAR subcommittee on sports, which will focus on the development of children's sports, promotion of national sports and healthy lifestyles.Head of the delegation, invited the representatives of the regions of NEAR to take part in a meeting of the subcommittee on sports in summer 2015 in Yakutsk.
The Republic, taking into commitments for the management of subcommittee on sports within NEAR, is planning through the member regions of the international organization to develop national sports of Yakutia in Asia, to deal with media coverage of the International Sports Games "Children of Asia", to promote regional initiatives of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in the area of healthy living.
Also were presented the major international sports events of the Republic: I Mas-wrestling World Championship in November 2014 and VI International Sports Games "Children of Asia" in July 2016.
Secretary General of NEAR Mr. Kim Jae Hyo supported the creation of the subcommittee on sports and urged the regions to take an active part in the work of this subcommittee.
