On February 14 the whole world celebrates the most romantic holiday - Valentine's Day. On the eve of Valentine's Day, the team of the CupoNation international startup decided to find out where in Russia the most romantic people live, and where the holiday is most popular.

We compiled a rating of the regions of Russia on the basis of the "romanticism index" - the average popularity of romantic searches in Google over the past three years.

Residents of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) turned out to be most romantic people of Russia. Interestingly, Yakutia is the coldest region, and population density is one of the lowest in Russia. Perhaps, it is because of the harsh climate that local people value warm human relations and do not lose their sensitivity and romanticism.

The Khabarovsk Territory and the Astrakhan region also entered the top three.

Moscow and St. Petersburg ranked 42 and 47 respectively. It seems that the rhythm of life in metropolitan areas leaves no room for romance.

In Chukotka and Nenets Autonomous Districts, as well as in the Magadan Region, the least number of romantic people live.
