April 16 - 27 more than 1000 indigenous representatives from all over the world participate in the seventeenth session of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues at the United Nations Headquarters. This year's session focuses on the problems of indigenous peoples' collective rights to lands, territories and natural resources.
The Chairman of the State Assembly (Il Tyumen) of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Aleksandr Zhirkov, is on a working visit to New York, where he participates at the invitation of the Secretariat of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues in 17th session of the Permanent Forum at the UN headquarters.
