Significant warming is expected in Yakutia in the last week of the year. The head of the Hydrometeorological Center of the Russian Federation Roman Vilfand told TASS on Monday.
"An incredible leap: it is now 8-10 degrees below normal, and from tomorrow, the temperature will rise, by Thursday will be 12-14 degrees above normal. Imagine, instead of normal -50 degree frosts it will be only -35 ..- 40. That is, the temperature will rise by more than 20 degrees," the head of the Hydrometeorological Center said.
Roman Vilfand noted that anomalous warming in the pre-New Year period is expected throughout the country.
According to him, the reason for the emergence of such an all-Russia anomaly was the simultaneous arrival of warm air from the Mediterranean and Turkey to the European part of the country and from the southern Asian regions to Siberia.
Today at 9 am in Yakutsk, the air temperature was -47 degrees Celsius.
The air temperature dropped below -45 degrees in fourteen localities of the republic. The minimum mark is registered in Oymyakon: there it is -54 Celsius.
