April 19 - 22, Moscow hosted the International Quilt Fest 2018. The festival is annual and most anticipated event for needlewomen from around the world. Participants from all over the world gather here, this year craftsmen from Israel, Germany, England and Japan arrived in Russia.
The republic was represented by a delegation of 13 participants, including three students of 8th and 9th grades. Grand Prix and the right to go to England was won by the ‘Saharga’ fashion studio from Churapcha. In England, The FestivalofQuilt's international festival will be held in Birmingham.
Valeria Starkova, a student of the 9th grade of the Kepteny School of Ust-Aldan ulus, won the first place in the individual competition and was awarded a professional sewing machine ‘Elna’. Her collection is called "In Harmony with Nature." To create the collection, she was inspired by the motives of the seasons. The collection consists of stylized national costumes. Valeria herself designed the costumes, and her mother and teacher helped her to sew.
