‘Railways of Yakutia’ will complete the railway to Yakutsk

The section of the railway to Yakutsk will be completed by the Joint Stock Company Railways of Yakutia, which won the tender for construction after the termination of the contract with the former general contractor - Transstroy Engineering Corporation, TASS informs with reference to the regional ministry of transport and road facilities.

The Tommot-Nizhny Bestyakh launch complex, which has been under construction since 2005, was planned to be commissioned in 2012. Transstroy Corporation, which was the main executor of the construction of the Tommot-Nizhny Bestyakh (Yakutsk) railway complex, is currently undergoing bankruptcy proceedings. Readiness of the complex is 94%, 439 km of railroad tracks have been built, more than 486 artificial structures have been erected, the Yakutia Transport Ministry reported.

"The Federal Railway Transport Agency has determined the winner of the tender for the construction of the Tommot-Yakutsk (Nizhny Bestyakh) launch complex of the Berkakit-Tommot-Yakutsk railway line in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The winner is JSC Railways of Yakutia with a price offer of 1.84 billion rubles," the report said.

The head of Yakutia, Egor Borisov, in September 2017, proposed the completion of the Tommot-Nizhny Bestyakh launch complex at a meeting of the State Council Presidium on the issues of integrated development of the regions of the Far East. Following the meeting, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Russian government to take measures to implement the investment project by March 1, 2018.

Railways of Yakutia is the owner of the infrastructure of public railway transport Neryungri-Tommot with a length of 368 km and a carrier of goods on this section of the road. Since 2014 the Company has been temporarily operating the Tommot-Nizhny Bestyakh site under construction. The main shareholders of the Company are Russian Railways, which owns 49.93% of the Company and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), represented by the Ministry of Property and Land Relations of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) - 43.65%.
