President of the Asian Physics Olympiad Mr. Kwek Leong Chuan expressed his gratitude to the head of Yakutia Egor Borisov and the regional team for the preparation and holding of 18th Asian Physics Olympiad, the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of the RS (Y) reports.
"I am sure that all the managers and participants, just like me, are very impressed and delighted with the level of organization of the Olympiad and warm hospitality of the local residents. I am deeply impressed by the dedication and hard work of the managers of your ministries. Yakutia has the right to be proud of the remarkable sons of its people who work hard for the development of their republic," the letter of gratitude says.
For the 18-year history of the Asian Physics Olympiad, Russia was for the first time granted the right to conduct it. In the Olympiad, in addition to Russians, 170 schoolchildren from Hong Kong, Israel, India, Singapore, Thailand and other countries took part.
Five Russian winners of the XVIII Asian Physics Olympiad, held in Yakutsk May 1-9, recently won five gold medals at 48th International Physics School Olympiad in Indonesia (IPhO-2017).
The Asian Physics Olympiad is an intellectual competition that has been held since 2000. It is similar in many ways to the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), but it differs in its complexity.
It is usually assessed as a limited competition between the strongest national teams of the planet: China, Taiwan, Singapore, Russia and India.
The holding of the Olympiad in the capital of the republic was a preparatory stage for the International Intellectual Games, which, on the initiative of the head of Yakutia, Egor Borisov, will be held in 2018.
More than 1,500 schoolchildren from different countries are expected to participate in intellectual competitions.
Within the framework of the Games scientific conferences, Olympiads in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Informatics, forum-laboratory will be held.
