Ministry of Education of Yakutia meets with President of Asian Physics Olympiad

On May 3, the delegation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Yakutia headed by Vladimir EGOROV met with President of the Asian Physics Olympiad Mr. Kwek Leong CHUAN (Republic of Singapore).

Anton SAFRONOV, Minister of Investment Development and Entrepreneurship of Yakutia, Vladimir VASILIEV, Head of the Department for External Relations of Yakutia and others took part in the meeting. The parties discussed the prospects for further cooperation in the development of scientific activities of high school students and young scientists. Vladimir Egorov informed that in July this year International Research School for senior pupils from different countries will work in Yakutsk. This project will give students the opportunity to do real science, work with modern laboratory equipment and find friends from different parts of the world. Under the leadership of young scientists, high school students from different countries will become participants in research express-projects.

Mr. Kwek Leong Chuan told that Singapore hosts the International Scientific Youth Forum, also the Singapore Junior College and the School of Mathematics and Science at the National University of Singapore organize their international forum. In addition, the Science Center and the Ministry of Education of Singapore hold an international engineering exhibition, which presents around 500 projects. Yearly for young scholars of Singapore, a summit is held, attended by about 25 Nobel Prize laureates. Mr. Kwek Leong Chuan will officially send detailed information about all these projects.

During the conversation, the foreign guest noted the natural attractiveness of Yakutia and the need to develop tourism. In this regard, he recommended establishing close ties with neighboring regions and countries. In his turn, Minister of Investment Development and Entrepreneurship of Yakutia Anton Safronov, who recently visited Singapore, said that during the business trip he had negotiations with potential investors and a meeting with the President of JTC Corporation, Mr. Cheong Boon PNG. Based on its results, the parties agreed to exchange experience in the development of the regional IT Park, and JTC is ready to consider a program of sharing professional experience by receiving specialists from Yakutia in one of the existing technology parks: Biopolis, Fusionopolis or Mediapolis.
