According to Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia Aleksandr Tsybulsky, the development of maritime transport in the Arctic waters in 2016 has allowed to transport 6.9 million tons of cargo (as of December 1 of this year).
These figures are a record in the history of this transport corridor. Record figures exceeded even the figures achieved by the Soviet period.
