The Evenki celebrated 'Singilgan' national holiday October 22 in the community of Arkit.
In the Evenki language 'Singilgan' means 'the first snow'. When the first snow falls, the Evenki get together and ask the gods for good luck in hunting and well-being of the household.
The celebration began with raising of the flag of the Evenki community and the purification rite. Traditionally, men performed a rite of obtaining luck for the hunters, and the elders fed the fire and asked for blessings.
Shooting from an air rifle and throwing maut is an integral part of the Evenki festival. By the end of the day all people gathered at a table with national dishes, listened to stories from the elders and summed up the results of the meeting.
