On April 24, ALROSA, the world leader in diamond mining, and Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) signed a new extended cooperation agreement in Moscow. ALROSA has become a certified member of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) by achieving certification against its Code of Practices through meeting the highest ethical, human rights, social and environmental standards as established by the RJC.
ALROSA invites independent auditor to analyze causes of accident at Mir mine
To arrange an independent analysis of the causes of the accident, ALROSA is planning to invite an auditor experienced in work at underground diamond mining facilities with similar hydrogeological conditions. A relevant resolution was passed at the initiative of the independent members of ALROSA Supervisory Board. SRK Consulting and DMT Group are among the possible candidates for the audit.
ALROSA supports mentoring
ALROSA acts as a partner of the ‘Mentor’ All-Russia Forum, organized by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives. Within the the forum there is a contest for the best practices of mentoring. ALROSA prepared awards created with the use of Russian diamonds and polished diamonds especially for prize-winners of the contest.
ALROSA to hold open competition for design solutions to resume production at Mir deposit
ALROSA is planning to hold an open competition for design solutions to form a concept of resumption of diamond mining at Mir deposit. The decision was announced in follow-up the research and technology seminar in Yakutniproalmaz Institute. The participants also outlined three focus areas for the development of technical solutions to ensure the safety of underground mining operations at the deposit.
