Construction to be completed by 2021
YAKUTSK, January 18. / TASS /. Japanese investor will allocate about $ 10 million for the installation of a wind farm of three wind turbines with a total capacity of 900 kW in the Bulun district of Yakutia, said the Minister of Housing and Communal Services and Energy of Yakutia Danil Savvinov to TASS on Thursday.
"This year, NEDO Corporation will allocate about $ 10 million to purchase equipment [for the wind farm]. The agreement on this was reached during the recent talks with the Japanese party. RusHydro will incur the remaining expenses, including delivery and installation of equipment. Construction should be completed by 2021," the minister said.
The agreement on the construction of a wind farm in the village of Tiksi in the Bulun district was reached in December 2016. The government of Yakutia, RusHydro and NEDO signed an agreement on cooperation, within which the first wind farm will be operating in the Yakut Arctic in conditions of extreme cold.
As noted in the Ministry of Housing and Energy of Yakutia, the planned wind farm is a demonstration project; it will have to meet all Arctic conditions. The issue of replicating the construction of a fleet of wind turbines will be considered after the demonstration period. The ministry specified that in the Northern power district, which includes Bulun, the basis of power engineering is local sources of small generation. Altogether, there are 144 units of power plants, 18 renewable energy facilities, for which about 70 thousand tons of expensive diesel fuel is annually imported.
"The main direction for reducing the level of energy security and spending on diesel energy is a significant reduction in the volume of fuel transportation, by primarily introducing renewable energy sources," the ministry noted.
